Madrone bowl
Moor Oak bowl
Myrtle Burl Bowl

Madrone Bowl

125 mm diameter, 75 mm high
5” x 3”
Finish: Danish Oil
Turned from a wet blank, this bowl has a wall thickness of about 1/16”. Dried in a microwave after turning where the wood shrunk and got partially a leather-like surface.

Moor Oak Bowl

Large diameter 300 mm
Small diameter 250 mm
high 75 mm
11 3/4” or 9 3/4” x 2”
Finish: Wax
A good example of wood shrinking while drying. As the round cut blank was totally wet when it was bought, it was protected with wax and covered with wood chips and saw dust against fast drying. After two years, the blank was dry but shrunk to an oval. When turned , the shape of the bowl was kept as it was, and it was just sanded clean.

Myrtle Burl Bowl

410 mm diameter, 210 mm high
16” x 8 1/4”
Finish: Danish Oil
Since this burl had a very interesting “mountainous” surface, I kept the wall with about 70 mm (2 3/4”) very thick, to keep as much of the burl as possible.
Pear Tree Bowl
Robinia bowl
Rosewood box

Pear Tree Bowl

260 mm diameter, 45 mm high
10 1/4” x 1 3/4”
Finish: Oil
Very fragile turning as the wood was from a crotch of the tree. Although all cracks seen in the photo go through, I could the bowl turn to a wall thickness of about 4 mm (3/16“)

Robinia Burl Bowl

185 mm diameter, 152 mm high
7 1/4" x 6"
Finish: wax
natural topped, fumed with ammonia to darken the color from yellow to green, and highlight the heartwood's texture. The sapwood doesn't contain Tannin, so it remains yellow.

Brazilian Rosewood Lid Box

80 mm diameter, 43 mm high
3 1/4" x 1 3/4"
Finish: wax
Intended as jewelry box and made in small series from Rosewood and Ebony. A perfect gift for a lady!

Rosewood 03 box
Walnut Bowl
Yew bowl

Honduran Rosewood Lid Box

120 mm diameter, 65 mm high
4 3/4" x 2 1/2"
Finish: water-resistant wax
Box and lid are made from one piece of wood, so texture and color continue on the lid.

Burly California Walnut Bowl

160 mm diameter, 135 mm high
6 1/4" x 5 1/4"
Finish: Wax
The partially burly and cracked Bowl has an impressive wild texture.

Yew Bowl

275 mm diameter, 295 mm high
10 3/4" x 11 1/2"
Finish: Danish Oil
Another fragile turning with natural fissures running through.
Birch bowl
African Blackwood
Padauk Burl Bowl

Spalted Baltic Birch Bowl

185 mm diameter, 35mm high
7 1/4" x 1 3/8"
Finish: Wax
Beautiful end grain turning, the shape is like the tree was growing originally.

African Blackwood Bowl

285 mm diameter, 125mm high
11 1/4" x 5"
Finish: Wax
Natural topped and although Blackwood is very brittle, this blank was free of any cracks.

Padauk Burl Bowl

110 mm diameter, 95 mm high
4 3/8" x 3 3/4"
Finish: Danish Oil
A bowl with an impressive wild grain, but not easy to turn since there is no regular running fiber.

Sycamore Bowl
Burly Robinia Bowl
Cocobolo box

Sycamore Bowl

240 mm diameter x 240 mm, high 65 mm
9 1/2” x 2 1/2”
Finish: Oil

Robinia Burl Bowl

150 mm diameter, 120 mm high
6” x 4 3/4”
Finish: Wax
Natural topped: fumed with ammonia to darken the color from yellow to green and highlight the heartwoods texture. The hole in the sapwood gives this bowl an interesting look.

Cocobolo Box

Diameter 75 mm, high 85 mm
3” x 3 3/8”
Finish: Wax
The texture and color give this box a stunning appearance.

Burly California Walnut
Burly elm
myrtle bowl

Burly California Walnut Bowl

205 mm diameter, 50 mm high
8” x 2 ”
Finish: Wax
This bowl was turned from a wet blank. The wall thickness is about 1/16” . While drying in a microwave oven, the wood shrunk and the surface became “leather like".

Natural topped Elm Burl Bowl

270 mm diameter, 90mm high
10 3/4” x 3 1/2”
Finish: Danish Oil
Besides a nice light color and beautiful texture, the burl has a great looking "mountainous“ surface and the wall thickness is kept large to save as much of the surface as possible.

Myrtle Wood Bowl

240 mm x 230 mm diameter, 70 mm,high
9 1/2” x 2 3/4”
Finish: Wax
The harmony of the wood grain, the light color and the simplicity of the shape give this bowl its unique elegance.
